Youth Literacy Phase II Training Targets 2,000 Learners Across Seven Counties

A weeklong Phase II training for the Youth Literacy Program began on September 27 at the Kakata Rural Teachers Training Institute in Kakata City. Running through October 3, 2026, the Cohort 3 session brings together 80 staff members from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Luminos Fund, as well as county coordinators, center managers, supervisors, master coaches, and coaches from seven counties: Nimba, Bong, Margibi, Bomi, Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu. In Nimba County, the program operates in two areas: Sanniquellie and Ganta. The training strengthens their ability to deliver quality literacy and numeracy instruction to more than 2,000 learners.

Participants are developing skills in curriculum fidelity, work-register management, life-skills instruction, coaching, and supervision. The Luminos Fund provides materials, while the Ministry of Youth and Sports leads implementation.

The training will help staff support learners in building foundational literacy, numeracy, confidence, and expanded opportunities.
