MYS Begins Training of Trainers for Small Scale Grant Market Vendors

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has commenced a two day Financial Training of Trainers for facilitators who will support market vendors participating in the Ministry’s Small Scale Grant Program.
The training, being held in Bong County, brings together trainers representing all 15 counties and is designed to ensure that facilitators are equipped with the knowledge and practical tools needed to prepare market vendors to effectively manage and invest the grants they will receive.
The training focuses on helping market vendors develop basic financial management and business skills, including separating household finances from business money, maintaining simple business records, pricing products appropriately, managing cash flow, budgeting, saving, managing business risks and developing clear investment plans for their grant funds.
The training modules cover key areas including understanding your business, market assessment, goal setting, cash flow management, budgeting, record keeping, components of a business plan, setting measurable goals, adapting to changing business circumstances, saving and growing a business, and savings and loans.
A key outcome of the training is the development of a practical grant investment plan. Trainers will be equipped to guide market vendors in clearly identifying how they intend to use the funds they receive to strengthen and grow their businesses.
The two day training brings together 15 county level trainers, including 14 recruited trainers and two Master Trainers from the Ministry who will lead the training for participants from Montserrado County.
Following the completion of the Training of Trainers, the Ministry will begin rolling out the Small Scale Grant training in counties across Liberia next week.
The initiative is intended to strengthen the capacity of market vendors to responsibly manage their businesses, make informed financial decisions and maximize the impact of the grants they receive.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports continues to prioritize practical skills development and economic empowerment initiatives that provide young Liberians and small scale entrepreneurs with the tools and opportunities needed to improve their livelihoods.
