Youth and Sports Graduates 150 Cadets From Five Counties.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has successfully graduated 150 Cadets from Montserrado, Nimba, Lofa, Grand Bassa and Margibi Counties after three months of intensive hands on training at both private and public institutions.
The three-month training which was funded by the UNDP and Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports aimed at enchanting the working experience and skills of targeted youth at the same time serving as a pipeline for employment or hire.
The Martha Tubman Stadium in Harper City, Maryland County, is set to benefit from the installation of modern bucket seats.
Youth and Sports Minister, Cllr Jerror Cole Bangalu announced on Saturday during the official opening ceremony of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet in Harper City, Maryland County that the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, remains committed to leaving visible and lasting development footprints at all venues hosting the opening ceremonies of the National County Sports Meet.
He explained that, similar to the intervention made in Grand Cape Mount County during the previous edition of the tournament, the mini-stand at the Martha Tubman Stadium will be upgraded with bucket seats to enhance the facility’s standard and comfort.
“Gone should be the days when we come to participate in tournaments on dilapidated fields and leave them the same way,” Minister Bangalu declared.
The announcement was met with loud cheers and jubilation from Marylanders, who repeatedly shouted, “Thank you, Minister!”
Minister Bangalu further noted that the planned installation aligns with the theme of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet, “Inclusive Development Through Sports.” He emphasized that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will fully supply the bucket seats as part of government’s commitment to inclusive sports infrastructure development.
According to the Minister, the government intends to collaborate with the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to explore opportunities under FIFA’s Forward 3.0 Project, with the long-term goal of upgrading the stadium further—potentially including the installation of an artificial turf, as was done in Cape Mount County.
Minister Bangalu also stressed that the National County Sports Meet goes beyond competition, describing it as a powerful symbol of peace, unity, inclusion, and national pride.
This is the 29th edition of the National County Sports Meet, the biggest sporting events in the country.
