Liberia Strengthens International Partnership to Advance TVET and Youth Employment in High-Level Paris Meeting
PARIS, France – May 2026 – The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, continues to deepen international collaboration aimed at transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and expanding opportunities for young people.
In a high-level meeting held at the Embassy of Liberia in Paris, the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports, Atty. Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, joined H.E. the Ambassador of discussions centered on strengthening alignment between Liberia’s education system and private sector demands, ensuring that young people are equipped with relevant, market-driven skills that enhance employability and entrepreneurship. Emphasis was placed on creating sustainable pathways to decent work, in line with national development priorities.
Key initiatives highlighted during the meeting included progress surrounding the newly constructed BDOTC Hotel, advancements at Tumutu Agriculture College, and ongoing reforms and program expansion at the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC).
These initiatives represent critical investments in building a modern, responsive, and inclusive training ecosystem across Liberia.
The dialogue also explored mechanisms to scale impact and ensure long-term sustainability of the STRIVE Project, supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
The STRIVE Project continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing skills development, promoting youth employment, and strengthening institutional capacity within Liberia’s TVET framework.
The Minister Kruah reaffirmed the Ministry commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Education - Liberia, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and international partners such as IECD - Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement to drive reforms that will deliver tangible results for young Liberians.
This engagement underscores Liberia’s proactive approach to leveraging global partnerships in support of the Government’s broader development agenda, including youth empowerment, job creation, and inclusive economic growth.
