AS THE 2023/2024 NATIONAL COUNTY SPORTS MEET GEARS UP, ON APRIL 14, THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS ON MARCH 29, 2024, ORGANIZED A ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR KICKBALL REFEREES AND MATCH COMMISSIONERS OF THE LIBERIA KICKBALL FEDERATION
In his opening remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports Cllr. J. Cole Bangalu welcomed the participants and encouraged them to be professional in the performance of their duties.
Minister Bangalu said that the Ministry is preparing a commitment form for all Referees and Match Commissioners to sign so that in the event of any malpractices by either a referee or a match commissioner, that individual will be banned from all county meet-related activities.
the Assistant Minister of Sports, Murvee Gray, and chief facilitator of the training workshop said Kickball was birthed in 1964 by an American Peace Corp Cherry Jackson. Assistant Minister Gray lectured on the role and responsibility of the match commissioner to elevate the referees in preparing their report after the game and to assist the Liberia Kickball Federation in its operations and the delivery of the competitions, ensuring the matches are delivered as per the scheduled and regulations liaising with the referees as required
while, the Deputy Minister of Sports, G. Andy Quamie who is also a FIFA Commissioner facilitated the role of Match commissioners and their duties and responsibilities.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Administration Henry B. Yonton called both the kickball referees and match commissioners to be professional in their duty and declared the workshop open.
