PRESIDENT SIRLEAF AT RATTAN & BAMBOO EXHIBITION President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf today, October 21, 2016, led an array of Government officials, including Youth and sports Minister Saah Charles NíTow, Information Minister Eugene Lenn Nagbe, Gender, Children & Social Protection Minister Julia Duncan Cassell, and the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Zhang Yue, to the 2016 Special Exhibition of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS)-run China-aided Bamboo & Rattan Weaving and Vegetable Planting Technological Cooperation Project. The President expressed delight in the talent of Liberian youth in the project whose products were put on display at the show. She encouraged MYS to give beneficiaries of the project after-training support so they could launch themselves into entrepreneurship as a way of becoming self-reliant. The project was established in 2007 during the tenure of former Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Lin Songtain, after his trip to south-eastern Liberia, along with President Sirleaf, where they saw an abundance of bamboo and rattan plants, which moved them into collaborative action to begin the initiative.
